On success, on reaching for the stars, on perseverance.

You know what the problem with the internet is? Hidden, anonomous trolls spouting bilge are not the problem with the internet. The problem with the internet is it’s full of hippy idiots spouting positivity. At least some of it is catchy

Reach for the stars
SClub 7

Some of it, though, is repeated ad nauseum

“Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up.”
Churchil.

What a load of shit. Of course you shouldn’t reach for the stars. And you know why you should never give up? Because you should never even start in the first place.

It’s all such a waste of time

Not wonderful. Pointless

You know what happens if you reach for the stars? You stand there like a dick with your arms in the air.

“I surrender”

In any case, let’s assume you were mr tickle and had massive arms. You know what you would get if, on reaching for the stars, you actually touched them? You would get fucking burnt, that’s what you would get.

Don’t bother about your dreams.

Same as chasing your dreams. You know what I dreamt last night? I dreamt I was late for school and I didn’t have any trousers on. I don’t think I should admit that, let alone chase it. That’s an entry into the sexual offenders registry, right there.

And how do I chase my dreams? Do I run round and around my bed? I’d be late for work.

All these people, all these happy people are eager to pass their shitty life lessons on. But you know why they’re happy and we’re not? You know why they’re successful and we’re not?

Luck.

There’s no point getting your hopes up. You’re not going to win the lottery. You’re not going to, I don’t know, become a pop star and appear on ‘star in a reasonably priced car’ and you’re taking advice from the wrong demographic.

Never give up? Easy to say that if you’ve made it. You look at the successful people and might think, yeah, that’s not so hard I’ll give it a go. If everyone on tv is successful, or every blog you read is shared 000s of time on Facebook, it’s easy to assume that everything is like that

What you’re not seeing are the tens of thousands of people who failed, crashed and burnt and didn’t make it. They’ve got broken souls and debt. I bet if you could ask them, they’d say do give up, give up early and quick before it’s too late. Don’t reach for the stars, just keep your head down and make the most of what you have.

Don’t fucking bother, that’s my advice
