With review number 1 such a hard act to follow, we present you with review number 2: Cherry Blossom, and hope you can see Cherry Blossom as not a fragrance to replace or usurp Linen Fresh, but merely to complement it.
Let’s take a moment to consider some Cherry Blossom facts (taken from Wikipedia):
Every year the Japanese Meteorological Agency and the public track the sakura zensen (cherry blossom front) as it moves northward up the archipelago with the approach of warmer weather via nightly forecasts following the weather segment of news programs. The blossoming begins in Okinawa in January and typically reaches Kyoto and Tokyo at the end of March or the beginning of April. It proceeds into areas at the higher altitudes and northward, arriving in Hokkaidō a few weeks later. Japanese pay close attention to these forecasts and turn out in large numbers at parks, shrines, and temples with family and friends to hold flower-viewing parties. Hanami festivals celebrate the beauty of the cherry blossom and for many are a chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful view. The custom of hanami dates back many centuries in Japan: the eighth-century chronicle Nihon Shoki (日本書紀) records hanami festivals being held as early as the third century CE.
The mood this fragrance evokes is one of happiness and serenity with a hint of the exotic. Just a hint. Not as full on as Twilight Garden (more on that in a forthcoming review) but somehow calmer. Think Japanese gardens. Think meditation. Think zen.
I used Cherry Blossom this morning on my floors, my kitchen worktops and then soaked the cloths in it. No longer was I in my kitchen in South Manchester on a dreary day in March. No. I was sitting in the grounds of the Tokyo Imperial Palace. I was alone and with me I had a flask of green tea. My mind was clear, my senses were aroused by the smell of the cherry blossom and for a short period of time (before my husband burst in opening drawers looking for scissors and thus transporting me back to my kitchen and back to South Manchester) I was utterly calm.
No need for me to repeat what has already been said about its cleaning capacity but also as a smell it’s great. A real winner.
I urge you to go out now and add a bottle of this loveliness to your cleaning collection.
